95 lt1, bad fuel pump?

we replaced the opti, coil, wires, plugs and new cai. Car ran fine the day before so i parked it and left it for the night. Next morning, i fire it up, get 1 mile down the road and it sputters with me when i give it gas, idles fine for approximately 30 seconds and then dies to about 200 rpms and dies. upon trying to recrank it it turns over and does nothing. wait a few seconds with key in on position it fires. From what i have been reading it seems that the fuel pump is going bad. I replaced the fuel filter and it was rediculously dirty. fuel pump comes on but is LOUD. havent checked fuel pressure do to no time. ANy ideas?

95 M6 lt1 z. msd opti, msd coil, 8.5 wires, tr55 plugs @ 45. bbk underdrive. k&n cai. msd 6al box.

All parts new cept the box. have replaced the fuel filter so far.

If it is the pump, what one do yall reccomend to get.
THANKS JAmes

You have to check the pressure to rule out or prove pump problems. There is no way around it.

With the car running and vacuum line off it should read 41PSI-47PSI.

Walbro 255lph. It's only around $100 and can't handle quite a bit of horsepower.

Those are the same symptoms my 95 formula gave when the pump died. If you have over 80k on the original pump then its time. There's a step by step somewhere that talks you through cutting a hole in the back of the car under your carpet, and over the fuel pump (and making a nice little door), to replace it without having to drop the back end of the car to get the tank out. Will save you a S!@#$%^D of work especially if you plan on keeping the car for long. These things go through pumps like hookers through mouthwash.

well got the time to hook it up to the pressure tester today. At idle it stays at 14-15 psi. blip the throttle and it drops like HELLLLL NO let off the gas. SO i guess im ordering the racetronix kit for it.

THank you for the advice.
