95 impala ss ecu/pcu

Does anyone know if I can use an ecu/pcu from a 95 impala ss with an LT1 to run my 97 Z28 LT1? Also this engine is not in a camaro. Im doing a swap to my 82 blazer.

Yes it will work, just need to address the knock sensor difference somehow, resistor in the pcm or turning off the code. You can keep the knock sensor and turn off the code and it is supposed to still function. The code is set by different resistance.

What wiring are you going to use??

Or you can just add the second knocker sensor and splice to the first.

97 is an obd2 motor arn harness, i think you would need an ecu from a 96-97 car

you will just have to get a knock sensor for whatever car the pcm came out of.

You can run a 96/97 engine with an OBD-I PCM. Many people convert their 96/97's to OBD-I for simplification, ease of tuning, lower cost tuning and scanning software, etc. You don't need the stuff OBD-II adds - crank position sensor, after cat O2 sensors, EVAP vacuum detection switch, etc.

I was talking about the YEAR difference as 96-7 used a different knock sensor PN than 95 and earlier.

I would not bother adding the second KS, the f-bodies got by just fine with one and the b-body PCMs are the same PN so I don't see why having only one would be any problem at all.

The pcm on the f body is looking for a resistance from one knock sensor and the pcm on the B body is looking for the resistance from the two knock sensors.
If the pcm doesn't get the signal it's looking for it will retard timing. I tried using the camero knock sensor which was the same as the b body and that didn't cure the problem but attaching the second knock sensor did cure the problem. I had this problem when I had fuel injection specialitys make up a harness to fit a A body and the harness was for a F body, 1 knock sensor while the pcm was from a b body that they programed.
Just trying to keep someone from chasing their tail like I did for 2 weeks.

The issue you had would have been resolved by using the right base programming.

The lowly crappy undeserving b-body used the same PN pcm. Lots of f-body and Vette guys can't bring themselves to admit it though.
