94 z28 cuts off going down the road

i have 94 z28 and the other day i was coming home and the car just cuts off..i sit there for a few mins and it will crank back up and drive a couple more miles and cuts off again...i switched the icm out of my buddys car and still does it...u can let it idle for 15 or 20 mins and it dont it..just when u drive it....i have done the opti test that shoebox has on his website and everything checked out but one of the wires..that one was suppose to be between 1 and 4 volts and the reading was .9...im beginning to think its the opti but would like some input before i just start putting money and parts on that i dont need...new fuel pump and plugs and wires last year...any help will be appreciated

Have you scanned it for codes?

(I think I already asked you this on another site)

You need an OBD-I scanner, or software like TTS DataMaster or Free/Scan. Most parts stores only scan OBD-II, but who knows what they do where you live.

Man that's scary. That happened to me a lot but it turned out to the aftermarket pulleys not charging the alternator. It would just drain the battery and the car would die on me, then if I let it sit it would start back up. When the Opti has problems though usually you can feel it breaking up the RPM's as you get step on it or the car will feel sluggish.

Also what is your engine temps reading at when all of this is happening?

Code 16 means it's time for a new opti.

Might want to take a quick look at the opti harness connector for corrosion(long shot but worth a look)
