94 LT1 will not start...
About the last 2 months my Camaro would turn over a couple of times before it would start. Then about 2 weeks ago I drove for about 30 mins then shut it off, picked up something at work and when I went to start it up again, it would not start. It was only off for about 5 minutes. It would not even turn over. All the gauges were fine, radio, lights, windows, locks would work just fine. All I herd was the click from the starter. I had a friend jump it and it started right up. When I got home, I pulled the starter and battery off and had them checked at Advance Auto. They said the starter was bad so I got a new one. They battery was fine. Put the new starter on and it started right up. It ran fine after that until today. I went to start it up and nothing, just a click sound. All the electrical stuff worked just fine. Volt gage was reading 10amps. Tried to jump it and nothing, just the click sound. When I hooked up the jumper cables the volt gage went up to normal position. I checked all the fuses and they are fine. I check all the battery wires and the starter wires, coil wires and they are fine. The battery is a cheap one from Wal Mart and it is 3yrs old. I replaced the coil and opti about 2 years ago. Spark plug wires and plugs are fairly new. I am not sure what the problem is. It could it be the alternator? I have not replaced it since I have owned the car(about 4 years). Could the coil or ICM be bad? The car has about 102,000 miles. I am probably going to have the battery check again somewhere else. But if it was the battery, it should have starter after it was jumped, right? I am going to have the alternator checked, too, just did not have time to pull it off today. The only thing that I did differently to the car recently was add the power tune from my hypertech programmer. I don't think that would cause this problem. The SES light had been on for 2 years after I did my header install(emisions delete). The security light comes on and off normally, too.

Re: 94 LT1 will not start...
I agree with coleman, mine's done that too I also have a '94 Z. The wife and I were leaving target one night and when I went to try and start it, nothing. One click and that was it. I let it lay for a minute or two, went and tried it a couple more times, and it started right up. Fickle creatures these f-bodies are.
Re: 94 LT1 will not start...
The dash voltage gauge reads in volts, not amps. If its only reading 10V with no loads on the system, something is wrong with the battery, or the cables. When you checked the battery, did you check the terminals and cables for corrosion?
Re: 94 LT1 will not start...
I checked the cables and terminals...they looked good. I didn't see any damage. If it was the battery, wouldn't it still start by jumping it? Tomorrow I am going to take the battery somewhere else to have it checked again.
Re: 94 LT1 will not start...
That's why I suggested you check the cables. If they are bad, corroded terminals, corroded wire strands, all the jumper batteries in the world won't help you. Or, if you have an intermittent short in your battery, it could pull the power out of the jumper battery.
Have you checked the starter end of the main cable?
Have you checked the starter end of the main cable?
Re: 94 LT1 will not start...
I check the starter ends when I replaced the old one. I did not have time today to check the battery again...(I got no sleep at work last night, spent most of today catching up)...I am going to recheck everything tomorrow to see if I missed something.
Re: 94 LT1 will not start...
So I got a new battery and still the same issue. I disconnected all the battery wires and cleaned them up with a wire brush, reconnected everything and it started right up! Hopefully that fixed it...thanks for all the help and suggestions from everyone.
