Yep 93-94(early) had forged rods, 93's had really nice thick casting heads, 96(late) the casting of the heads got worse, although they flowed better then the older versions they couldn't be ported as much as the roof got thinner. Cam's kept on changing around, intake manifold got worse in 96 (smaller ports), the cars kept getting worse like getting bad leather etc... except the improvement in the Camaro interior for 97! Then the LS1 came out & that was nice except it ate oil up to 2000

which LT1's came with aluminum and iron heads? man... im curious to know if there's a site out there that gives out every spec on each year of the LT1 like there is for thirdgen camaro's on thirdgen.com > tech data. since im going to be riding around with an LT1, i might as well learn about them and know everything there is to know about them like i know about my L98

Caprice/Impala/Roadmaster/Fleetwod LT1's are iron heads, smaller cams. Read the first link I posted... its all spelled out in there. Find out about the "Baby LT1"..... 265ci.

There will probably be a lot more involved than just "dropping it in". Radiator willprobably need relpacement or modification, fuel pump, o2 sensors or sims, accessory brackets modified to fit your car. I don't know if I would start a project like this with no cash, planning to put it on a CC. A rebuild on your L98 will probably be cheaper.

IMHO

before i bought my 4th gen, my 3rd gen LG4 went and **** itself. so i thought about the LT1 swap and i contacted a few people and the cheapest price i found, and this is from someone who does it all the time, and is even a thirdgen.org board member, was over 3G's for just the swap. not to mention all the accessories, the engine (duh) and im pretty sure you would need a new exhaust set up, and a new radiator as mentioned above. i think the front sway bars are different aswell but i dont know if it would still work or not, it might. but its gonna be really expensive and some serious down time to get the engine (tranny??) and wiring done.

I honestly believe that re-building your L98 will be a LOT cheaper than trying to swap in an LT1. If you could pull and re-install the engine yourself, you could probably have your motor rebuilt and running for less than $1500.

ya, im going to re-build it because i found the price to be totally out there to do the swap, lol. going to have it rebuilt with a higher cr to give me a little bit more power. moving from 9:5:1 to 10:5:1... what kind of gains do you think i'd find? im going to get forged flat top pistons, port out my heads and some thick head gaskets. any other ideas to get close to 10:5:1? thanks guys... ehh now i kinda got off the original subject of the post, lol
