94 lt1 tune up kit?
94 lt1 tune up kit?
hey guys! I want to do a tune up on my Camaro. what brand plugs, and wires, and oil should I get? how much does a tune up cost? also what else do I need to do a full tune up? would royal purple be a good oil to use 10 40w? thanks in advance is it hard to do a tune up on my own I notice the plugs are below the exhaust I can't even see them
Re: 94 lt1 tune up kit?
If the car is stock, use stock AC-Delco plugs and wires. I don't take my car to a shop, but I would guess it would be a couple hundred or more for plugs and wires to be done. It is not easy. If you are not a seasoned tune-up person, the job could be a real challenge.
Use oil weight recommended in the owners manual. Lots of people have a favorite oil they like to swear by, but in the end it is not such a big deal for a daily driver as long as you keep it clean. Don't waste you money on high dollar oil.

This is no easy job, but if your patient you can do it. The wires were the hardest IMO. If they are still in the stock location its a pita to get the wires in and out of the brackets that hold then closer to the block. I didn't put mine back in the holders and they are fine, just make sure they are away from the exhaust.

Re: 94 lt1 tune up kit?
You can do the plugs, wire and oil yourself just fine. Set aside a rainy afternoon and get in there. AC Delco or NGK on plugs. MSD has some excellent wires. For oil, depends on how much you like your car. Go with manufacturer specs in whatever type you feel is appropriate to spend.
Bring some patience and make sure your wires aren't touching anything hot, and you're OK.
