I put mine on a lift its alot easier from the bottom, also took off the alternator and took the power steering pump loose not off the car though, to get the wires behind the piping, and also the crank pulley so I could see the opti. Was not bad at all working under the car.

I used a 19mm wrench, ratchet, swival and spark plug socket. I didnt need to take off anything (i.e the alternator) and was able to access all the plugs (small arms help here heheh). front plugs can come off from the top pretty easily, if I recall correctly, while the rest come off from the bottom. Having a lift will make life much easier.

The MSD wires are 8.5mm (stock are 7.5mm) so you'll have a hard time fitting the wires in the stock looms on the passenger side of the block. I'd suggest re-routing the wires below the power steering pump. Just make sure they don't rest up against the exhaust manifold.

Easiest way to change the plugs/wires is to pull the motor... but pulling the motor may not be easy for you.

With stock manifolds I did all mine from the top. With headers I can do top/bottom but it takes some fishing because my plug socket is too big. Ratchet won't fit.

I did a combination of top/bottom in getting the plugs out. Also, a stubby open end wrench along with a spark plug socket helped to get into some of the tight places. Overall, it was a little easier then plug changes on my old third-gen.

Rather than try to install wires in the oem locations, I treated it as an opertunity to install headers and OVC wires.
Just removing the OEM wires with the headers off was really tough and needlessly difficult. You will end up breaking all the plastic clips that capture the wires.

My OVC wires can be replaced in less than 1/2 hour.
Unfortunately you can not really use OVC with stock exhaust manifolds.
Food for thought.

Re: 94 lt1 changing spark plugs/wires

I was able to change all my plugs with headers from the top. I used a plug socket and a 19mm open end to turn the socket. It was slow going and I cussed a lot but I was able to get them all. Wires are next and that is gonna be tough I'm sure!
