94 lt1 Camaro

I have a 94 lt1 Camaro that misses and loses power at times. It also will backfire thru the exhaust when I let off the gas at times. I have changed coil, ignition control module, plugs, wires, and even changed the optispark 3 different times thinking I got a bad optispark. Each time I changed the opti it would run great for the first 30 mins then would slowly start missing again and doing the same thing as before. Someone please help me before I burn it to the ground lol

Not likely to get a lot of "tech" responses in "New Member Intro" forum. I'm moving this to "LT1 Based Engine Tech" for you.

Re: 94 lt1 Camaro

Is the engine stock or modified? If modified, what has been done? How many miles on it?

Have you scanned it for codes?

What brand Opti's are you buying?

Scanned it for codes? There are codes that do not turn on the SES light, including one for the Opti and one for the ICM.

Re: 94 lt1 Camaro

Consider downloading free Scan9495 software. Pulls codes, scans PCM, ABS, air bags, records data logs for detailed analysis. Originator of software is a member here, and very helpful. I can help you interpret the logs.

If buying a dual OBD-1/OBD-2 scanner, avoid Equus and Innova. Their LT1 database is screwed up and produces an incorrect list of 7 codes, even if there are no codes. Actron CP9185 is discontinued, but a great deal at $74 on Amazon.
