Cam lash adjustment

So I re-adjusted my lash recently. I'm sure I had them too loose. The engine sounds quieter now and runs well but I have an uneven idle kinda like a lope but the cam isn't that big and again it's uneven.

Would that point to my having adjusted the lash too tightly on a couple of cylinders? What would be the symptoms/effect of having the lash too tight?

Re: Cam lash adjustment

Too tight will be a roughness or lope when there should not be any.

Re: Cam lash adjustment

Thanks for the reply Rob and the confirmation. Guess I adjust them again. Is there any process you'd recommend? Do I just back off a bit, Do I need to loosen them, let them "release?" and then adjust them?

Re: Cam lash adjustment

Duh! Much as I've been on your site I should have been aware of this. Thanks again.
