94 FireBird Formula, Which upgrades are legal?

Well i just got a 94 Firebird Formula and I wanna do some work on it but what can i do to it so it will pass smog requirements in LA area

You can do a lot of things. Most cat back exhaust systems meet the 50 state smog requirements. And there are a few header systems that are smog legal too. When you're looking up parts, just make sure they say they're 50 smog legal.

for the most part you can do heads most cams, and shorty headers and exhaust. The cam will depend on how well your tune is.

In CA, to be strictly legal, any part you install that is related to the engine needs a "CARB-EO" number on it. For example, NOS even makes a dry nitrous kit (5176-EO) that comes with a CARB-EO sticker. Several header manufacturers have CARB approval, and weld a tag on the headers with the authorization number. MSD has a CARB number for all their "6 series" ignition parts. Many other parts are available. If you don't have the number, it isn't legal in CA.

There is a website that lists parts with CA "CARB" authorization, but I haven't checked it since I left CA many years ago.... .
