94 engine into a 95 eats fuel
94 engine into a 95 eats fuel
i put a 94 lt1 into a 95 camaro m6 and the car drinks a lot of fuel and runs bad when it gets warmed up.since the hose routing for the AIR pump is different do you think that the cat is not getting the air from the AIR pump and clogging up or somethimg. i did not use the 95 routing with the solenoid on top of the AIR pump, i just left it with the 94 hoses as it came out of the 94. it doesnt seem like it is the opti, the engine ran good when i pulled it from the 94 and i have dealt with bad optis before and it does not act the same. it acts like the cat is clogged. any suggestions before i take the cat off? if it was the temp sensor it would run bad all the time correct? is a 94 and a 94 temp sensor the same? also no engine light
Re: 94 engine into a 95 eats fuel
Sound like it might be bad O2 sensors.
Not sure which temp sensor you are asking about, but all years coolant and IAT sensors are the same. A faulty coolant temp sensor (the one in the water pump housing that feeds the PCM) could cause it to run fine cold, and poor hot, if the sensor is still telling the PCM the engine is cold when it's actually hot.
Have you scanned it for codes?
The AIR system shouldn't affect anything, unless its causing the exhaust leak. It only runs for a couple minutes on startup to help the cat heat up. A lot of people delete the aIR system completely and have no problems with the cat.

Re: 94 engine into a 95 eats fuel
i have no engine light on so i assume no codes, it is obd1 with obd2 plug so i cant get engine temp with my scanner. yes i am talking about the water temp sensor for the ecm. normally for me a bad temp sensor for ecm will cause car to run bad all the time because it is dumping extra fuel into engine because it thinks it is cold out. are both temp sensors the same? maybe i will just move the wires and see if that helps before i replace the ecm temp sensor
Re: 94 engine into a 95 eats fuel
You asked if the temp sensors were the same year-to-year. I asked which sensor. I didn't say that both sensors are the same sensor for the two different functions. The CLT sensor is threaded, the IAT sensor isn't. Then, by "move the wires" are you asking if you can swap the harness connectors? Or, are you asking can you swap the wires from the coolant temp sensor in the head to the one on the water pump? If so, no, one is a 1-wire sensor and the other is a 2-wire sensor. You have to make your questions a bit clearer.
If you have an OBD-I scanner, you can use jumper wires to connect it to your 16-pin ALDL connector. IF you have an OBD-II scanner, you are SOL. Again, not clear what type of scanner you have.
