Question 93 z-28 cooling problem

I have a 93 z-28 that won't get warm. The moter temp only gets about 130 when moving

I replaced the thermostat twice and it still holds about 130 especially when it is cold

Coolant sensor or gauge problem? Compare the reading with the computer.

the thermo is new and the heat only blows warm while at an idle or at about 2500 rpms after that it goes cold

The 93 dash coolant temperature gauge is very misleading. It is the only year where the lowest mark is shown as 100*F. In all other years, the lowest mark is labeled as 160*F. A lot of 93 owners make the comment that their gauge never gets very high.... I think the 93 gauge is simply mislabeled.

Shoebox has the info, as usual:

It could. That's why I suggested you check it.

are u going off the gauge? because the gauges for these cars arent exactly symmetrically accurate... do u have a laptop and cable to hook up to it and read the actual temp... do ur fans kick on?

injuneer beat me to it

no the fans dont kick on and the moter temp is between 130 and 145 when driving. the computer tells the car that it is cold so it runs real rich and blowes by raw gas. i checked the temp with a elc gauge and the computer

If you have verified that the actual coolant temp is 130*F at high speeds, your t'stat isn't closing.

I've tried two new thermostats, 1 cheap and 1 expensive, both get the same result.
