93 TA information please
93 TA information please
Found a good deal on a 93 TA M6
I am decently knowledgeable on 4th gens, but can hurt to ask the masters!
I know this is the first year of the 4th gen, and besides the typical LT1 probs that im aware of ( optispark, leaky intake Manifold gasket)
anything to be causious of in particular? Anything unique to 93's?
take a look...
93 TA on autotrader.com
BTW the price has been reduced again, "plenty of room on this one"-prob because its been sitting there since last year
ugly wheels no T-tops or leather....but thats were the fun comes in....... forgot to ask the salesguy it it has PW, i dont know if i can deal without thoese

try www.speeddensity.org
dedicated to '92-'93 LT1's
link says it has power windows but it doesnt list mileage
with that limited amount of info its hard to say anything about it until you drive it and describe it more to us
front and rear main seal leaks are other areas to check for, whiney rearend, take it out on a highway and get in 6th gear at cruising speed 60mph+ and mash on the gas pedal to check for clutch slippage, check for grinding during gear selection look at body panels for ripples, way out of whack body panel alignment etc.

There is a HUGE thread covering the differences between the 93's and other years.

anyone have the code for 3.23 rearend, do all M6 cars come with posi-trac?
im 19, IF i buy a car it will be a 'leasure veichle' they call it, 3 to 6 months per year insurance.... and it will be going under my fathers name; which will help immensly

M28 was the wide ratio M6 with a 2.73 rear end.
M29 is the close ratio (Viper) M6 with a 3.23 rear. This is the more desirable of the two.
As for 93's being different, the thread that Injuneer cited has pretty much everything. Some high points are:
No MAF, the car is run off of speed density.
The computer uses an EProm instead of an EEProm. Meaning, you have to burn chips as you can't reflash the computer like in the 94+ cars. No biggie, as all the chip burning stuff is relatively inexpensive, and we've got a very talented chip burner at Pcmforless.
NO SKIP SHIFT!!!!
The intake manifold setup is a little better too. The 93's manifold doesn't have the big indentation for the front fuel rail crossover because on 93's the fuel rail crossover is on the backside of the rails.
And everyone knows that 93's respond better to mods and are faster than the rest!!!
As for the one you're looking at, how many miles are on it, and does it have any mods??? $6000 seems kind of steep unless there's some mods or low miles. Reference: I bought the Purple Pearl 93 in my sig last summer for $6000 as it sits, all mods included, 92K on the clock.
Lastly, check out the speed density forum, link in sig. It's 93 specific, and we've got quite a few knowledgable people over there!!

The M28 Trans came with a 2.73

You'll have to consider that too -if you're financing, banks won't (normally) lend you more than book value for a car.
