93 lt1 vaccuum lines from opti to intake?

I have a opti with a extra port on it besides harness and coil spots. Do I need to run vaccuum lines form it to the intake?

Re: 93 lt1 vaccuum lines from opti to intake?

For an original factory Opti, only the 1995 and newer have a vent system, which requires a clean filtered air supply from the rubber intake elbow, and a vacuum line from the Opti to an intake manifold full vacuum port. The purpose of the vent system is to pull air through the Opti to remove the corrosive ozone formed by the high voltage spark. This resulted in improved reliability.

Currently, replacement caps with vent connections are available for the earlier (1993-94) Opti’s. The factory vents had one connections on the body of the Opti, and one connection on the cap. The 93/94 replacement should have two connections on the cap.

To hook the vent system up, you need two lines. The one that runs to the intake manifold has a filterflow restrictor and a check valve in it. The correct vacuum harness is available online.

Shoebox has info on the factory install:

You could run without hooking it up, but that could cause corrosion that damages the Opti internals. Probably a good idea to cap any port sticking upwards.

The Shoebox website is a great resource. Take a look at it:

4th Gen LT1 F-Body Tech Aids

A good place to start is the chart that shows the differences between the 1993-1997 LT1 engines:
