Question 93' LT1 has me stumped....

The original problem was a miss when cruising at a constant throttle setting.
The miss would clear up if accelerating or decelerating.
No codes thrown.
Problem was fixed by changing the plug wires,I found three bad wires.
I also changed the fuel-filter and a vacuum line while I was at it.
Car has been running PERFECT for the last two weeks..... until today!

I made 4-5 short trips today each about 5 miles apiece.
On the last trip I went into the Minute-Mart for about 10 minutes and when I fired it up to head home it was acting like it was hitting on 6 cylinders.
Bad idle and stumbles on acceleration.
I checked to make sure one of the plug wires hadn't touched the headers and all is well, can't find any arching.
No codes thrown.

Did I lose the Opti-Spark?
A spark-plug?

Why has my engine never thrown a code with any problems that I've had?....fuel-pump,plug wires, spark plug.....etc.
What "WILL" throw a code on this engine?!

Definatly check your plugs before you start spending money, and see if you might have wiggled a plug wire of the spark plug or opti.

How do you know you don't have a DTC? There are some codes that don't set an SES. Have you tried to jump the pins to get the codes flashed? Don't forget the 93 doesn't have near the level of monitoring as the 94. Even though neither can compare to OBDII that came out in 96.

Stick with plugs and wires for now. If you have headers and the problem shows up from a cold start, check for a dead cylinder. After sitting over night, start the engine and immediately check all the primaries for temperature. The ones that lag behind are probably not firing. Swap out the plug wire and see if it then fires. Then look at the plug if need be.

Thumbs up

I found the problem...........
One of the plug wires came out of the holder on the front of the block and touched a pulley, rubbed a nice size cut in it.....
Good news is that I found the problem .... bad news is that the wires have to be ordered in.
The parts store is going to replace the wires at their expense because they didn't fit exactly like the factory wires, the lengths were a little off.
He offered without me coaxing him,I accepted.....

glad you figured out the problem, many people post problems, fix them down the road and never post what was the fix
