better safe then sorry?

im disassembling my engine this morning and it looks like some mice made my intake there home for the winter and there is a bunch of seeds, dirt, grass, and mouse poop all over it. Me being dumb, decided to use an air nozzle to blow everything off after i took my fuel rail and injectors out, causing some of the crap to get into the injector holes. After i took the intake off some of it was laying in there. I am only doing a cam and getting the intake ported and didn't plan on taking off the heads. Can i just use a shop vac to suck everything out of the intake area and if anything got into the heads? or should i take the heads off and thoroughly clean them?

I think you would be o.k. if you carefully and completely used a powerful shop vacuum. But I was not there to see the mouse mess and what happened.

You had some mice in your mouse?

Realize that it is very likely you won't get everything.

It really depends on what got in. If it was strictly organic matter and you did clean as much as you possibly could out I would say anything left over should burn up in the combustion chambers. However anything inorganic such as dirt and grit will not burn up and could possibly cause some damage. This is also assuming nothing made its way into the lifter valley or the bottom end.

Maybe cover the lifter valley and blow out the heads intake ports if you take the rockers off cause then the valves are all closed and the junk ought to blow back out of there. Doubt if you could suck it out with a shop vac.
