'93 LT1 F-Body owners ... inside, please help me!

I need to purchase a new PCM and chip for a '93 LT1 equipped F-Body for a '96 race car project. The series REQUIRE a stock, unaltered PCM and the '93 is by far the simplest PCM to use to by-pass all the BS. And, the '93 harness is a lot cheaper ...

But in order to get PCM/EPROM, I need a VIN# ...

The VIN# needs to be associated with an LT1 based car, 6 speed trans, 16" tires, 3.42 gears ...

Anyone willing to send me a PM with their '93 VIN #?

Thanks a lot ...

Im confused as to why you would need a VIN# in order to get a PCM. Just have someone write a program for you for the 96 and load it via computer. Its not that hard, and cheaper then buying a complete PCM. But either way something doesnt sound right as to why you need a VIN# just to get one, i wouldnt think that matters.

Tuning or reprogramming is not an option.

The computer is no big deal ... the chip is specific, though, for a particular set parameters for a car. There are about 6 or 8 combinations of engine, trans, wheel size, tire type, etc. And the parts guy has to have that info in order to plug in the correct part number.

A VIN is the easiest way to get from point A to point B

Hey guys, Mitch is a good guy, and he isn't trying anything fishy looking for a VIN number.
I am still going to check for you tonight Mitch.

Why use an un-tunable 93 one ?

... you folks are not understanding?

I cannot mess with the computer or chip period. EVERYTHING associated with a 93 makes it simpler to work on.

A Painless wiring harness is 1/2 the cost of a 94+
A $50 VATS module bypasses the whole dash/key/guage cluster.

Simpler, cheaper and does exactly what I need it to do. Perfect for a race car ...

Not sure how you are going to get what you want....93's did not have 3.42's as a option. I am pretty sure all was 2.73 or 3.23.

correct on the no 3.42s. I have owned 3 93Z28s including the one I have now. I don't want to throw any more confusion out there, and I do understand what he is saying, but a STOCK 93 computer is not what I would want to use in a RACE car. I have a pcmforless custom tune chip and it makes a BIG difference over stock, especially when modifications are added. The only major plus is not having a MAF sensor in my experiences.

I still don't think you grasp it ...

Alterations to STOCK tuning are illegal.
Modifications are illegal.
Tuning is illegal.
I am limited to HP/TQ. Adding HP means severe weight penalties.

This is not a drag race series where you run what you brung. It's a spec road racing series where rules are implemented so that all the cars are about the same.

The '93 computer is by far the simplest of the 4th gen computers. It is not complicated by an intricate VATS, BCM, Emissions type inputs. They are easier work arounds.

Painless wiring makes a wiring harness for a '93 LT1 that is a tick over $300. A 94/95 harness is a tick under $600 and a 96/97 is closer to $700

AGAIN ... A 93 IS CHEAPER, SIMPLER and MEETS MY NEEDS.

There's a guy on the EFA forum selling a 93 PCM for $80, and you should be able to locat a stock memcal somewhere for relatively cheap.

The stock memcal calibration is going to depend on what car it came from. The F-Body had two different versions, one for the auto and one for the six speed. Same thing for the Y-Body cars, one for the stick, one for the auto. I think that's the only four that there were for 93.

Above is the link for the EFA sale with the PCM. The guy is a good person to deal with, he'll do you no wrong.

I just don't see a reason to purchase a brand new anything if you can find it used cheaper. If you still need a stock memcal unit, PM me as I have two 93's, one of which is a stock six speed and the other of which was a stock auto.

I appreciate the link ... looks pretty good.

It's the first used '93 PCM I've seen ... hence the reason for a new one, which is only $130, from Dal. The chip located inside is of no use to me, though.

The chip is the issue. Because of the different options available in '93 (Engine, trans, wheel size , tire rating, diff gear, etc) there are numerous options available ... and each of those options, the computer is gonna want to see an input. The chips, from the factory, are VIN controlled, hence the need for a specific VIN.

NOMAD - the car has to be dyno verified at the beginning of the year and randomly throughout the year. At any time, the hood can be sealed (and the Comm port if an OBD car) to make sure everything matches the original factory apporved power curve.

So, yes, it is checked.

I'm not asking for ways to cheat, rather for a VIN for a car that came with a PCM that I can use. I cannot fathom why it is some of you can't comprehend that.
