93 lt1 computer swap

I have a 93 z28 from what I understand you cant program them. I now have a 97 lt1 computer and wire harness, Has anyone done this? Is it worth it or should I just get a custom chip made after mods are done such as a good street cam (pos. lt4 cam ?) and porting.

The 97 is OBD-II, with full sequential injection, controls for the A4 (or M6) and requires a mass air sensor. Your 93 is OBD-I and set up for batch fire injection, has no tranny controls and runs speed-density, not MAF. The 97 PCM requires a different knock sensor than the 93. The IAC motor signals may be different.

You could probably run the sequential injection, even though the 93 rails are set up for batch fire. You would have to add an MAF sensor, and change the knock sensor. You would have to have all the things your 93 doesn't have "programmed out" - tranny controls, after-cat O2 sensors, EVAP vacuum detection, crank position sensor, etc. - or you would have lots of codes showing and the SES light on all the time.

The engine harness won't be completely plug and play, either. There are numerous differences between the years.

93 lt1 computer swap

Thanks, sounds like a pain...I might try another chip..all I realy want to do is make it breath better and a nice street strip cam, nothing wild yet. I ran a 12.15 with a 150 shot. I would be happy with a 11.00.
