93 IAC problems..steady 160 count..

datamaster is showing a steady 160 count at idle. ive used shoebox's site to test the IAC circuit and ive got infinite resistance on A/B and C/D. ive checked the grn/wht and grn/black back to the pcm connector and they check out fine with only .1 resistance. does that leave the pcm as being faulty?

thanks

My guess would be that this is because you have a 383.

Clean out the IAC and crack your TB blades open a bit. Do a search on drilling the IAC bypass hole bigger to allow more air in at idle.

ive tried cracking the blades and i was looking into the drill mod but now i think there may be another underlying issue.

Since Shoebox's test procedure suggests that you should have 40-80 ohms between "A to B" and "C to D", it would appear that your IAC valve is not working. If its not working, the PCM will continue to increase the IAC "counts" until it reaches the upper limit of 160. But since your IAC may not be moving at all, the PCM has no way of knowing that.

should i be checking the IAC itseslf or the wiring from the pcm. i assumed it was a wiring check but after reading the instructions again i see it seems to be a check on the valve itself.

thanks

Shoebox's instructions tell you how to measure the resistance across the coils of the IAC motor.

IAC was stuck all of the way shut. I assume that's what been causing my DTC 34.

thanks
