Re: 93 EGR problem

No... that's the setup used for EGR on the 94-97 LT1's. A flex tube from the #8 runner on the exhaust manifold directly to the back of the intake. The 93 is different.

The AIR on the 94-97 engines splits at the pump. One line goes up to the drivers side exhaust manifold, the other line wraps under the timing cover and up to the passenger side exhaust manifold.

The 93 is not like that. The line from the AIR pump to the drivers side exhaust manifold is similar, but the line for the passenger side runs down the drivers side of the engine, around the back of the engine, where it combines with the tube from the #8 runner, and into a Y-pipe that connects to the back of the intake manifold. There is also, if I recall correctly, a check valve in the AIR line, and some sort of fitting with a vacuum nipple on it, that doesn't connect to anything.

Someone posted a pic of the 93 piping, and I though I saved the link, but I can't find it.

Re: 93 EGR problem

so what are my options as far as getting the egr working again if i only have the 93 egr valve and solenoid. i also have mac headers with the air fittings. is my only option to find a 93 egr setup or will no other year give me the function i am looking for. i just want my egr system to work properly but it sounds like with what you guys are saying...i can only use a 93 egr system on a 93 and no other years egr setup will work properly. is that correct?

Re: 93 EGR problem

Do you also need the AIR system to function?

Because if you don't, and only want the EGR to work, you could hook the corrugated tube to the back of the intake manifold, just like shown in Shoebox's 95 photo.

no...my car's air pump was broken when i got the car. but the egr was functional on the car. i just need the egr so my car will pass inspection again...do you think the AIR system is necessary to have for passing inspection.

Re: 93 EGR problem

i just found some pictures of my egr system before i took it off...i have pretty much decided that i need the system for a 93...does anyone have an egr system lying around for a 93 or know of anyone who has one...i am desperate. i am also still confused if just putting the corrugated tube off of a newer lt1 would give me the ability to pass inspection.
