What computer is running the engine - 93 ECM or 96 PCM?

I was thinking the same thing,I just put a 95 motor in a 96 with the 95 harness, Computer and trans but it would not start, I ended up having to use the 96 harness with the crankshaft sensor wire that goes on the front of the 96 opti case, It satrted and can drive but it stillneeds the signal from the sensor which the 95 does not have.

Hopefully I can trick the signal some how.

The 95 and 96 harnesses are not identically pinned out. The CKP has nothing to do with it not starting or running. The engine will run with the CKP disconnected.

Reprogramming would need to be done to turn off the reporting code.

BTW, you have successfully hijacked the OPs thread.

What do you mean by the above? You looking for more power? Will the car not start? Or is it down on power compared to the original motor?
