8k miles, header install, bad 02?

I put in Jet-Hot coated Mac's on my 97 Z28 the other day, and it ran fine for about 75 miles or so. The SES light came on, bad bank 2 02. Is this from the coating burning off? With only 8k on the sensor? The header bolts seem tight, there's no "ticking" sound or evidence of a leak. Maybe with this few miles on an older car, there is a carbon buildup that takes awhile to eliminate? I only ran it about 200 miles in the last 6 months before putting on the headers. Thanks.

More than likely it is the coating. It may go off in a few days...Mine has done the same thing.

My SES also came on a few hundred miles after my Jet-Hot MAC install. My O2's crapped out on me. I drove like that for a few hundred more miles to make sure that any coating or rtv had been burned off. Then I replaced them with new sensors and reset the PCM (unplugged overnight). It's been perfect ever since. (11k miles)

Your gas milage will suck until you get the new sensors in. Now I'm back to my 21 mpg average.

What was the EXACT code.... not all O2 sensor codes mean the sensor itself is bad.

Sounds dumb, but I honestly don't remember...I'm going to Autozone today, I'll leave it when I get back

It could just be that you have the headers installed. See what the code is to be sure. My car threw a code soon after I put headers on...slow heating O2 or something. Since I had 90K on all 4 original O2s, I replaced all of them with AC-Delco...yes, learned from the Board . A few weeks later, the same code came back...now unless I had a new bad O2 installed..I doubt it. No power loss, just that ugly orange warning is in my face all day. I'm waiting to do my tune, and go in to disable a few codes to keep that light off...FYI...in California, you could fail emissions if your SES bulb is out.

So does low voltage mean it's seeing too much oxygen and is probably due to a leak? I checked everything and it seems tight...Or can the code simply mean the O2 is bad?
