83 Camaro question about electric fuel pump

We're putting a 95 LT1 in our 83 Camaro. We need an electric fuel pump for the LT1. We're also concerned about baffling in the fuel tank so we can go around the road courses without starving the fuel. What do you guys suggest, an inline pump or an in tank pump?

While we're at it, What oil pan will work with our 383 stroker?

Re: 83 Camaro question about electric fuel pump

Stock oil pan, with stock windage tray works just fine. Might take a gentle tap with a hammer, depending on the specifics of the crank you run. Most of my experience though is going in a straight line. Moroso and Canton make larger pans. I recall people complaining about the Canton having some issues with flanges that leak.

I have no idea what the internals of an 83 Camaro fuel tank, looks like, so can't help with that. An inline pump will require the addition of a sump, or at least an internal baffle with an -AN connection on the tank. I've done it with the 4th Gen tank, but not a 3rd Gen. Actually, one pump in the stock in-tank location, and one outboard. Works great, but again, the car is accelerating in a straight line, not going around corners.

There's a forum for "Autocross and Road Racing", but it's not very active. I'll copy your post there to see if maybe it gets a better response.

Re: 83 Camaro question about electric fuel pump

I'd find a TPI tank and run that and the TPI or aftermarket fuel pump (likely a higher flow aftermarket for a 383)
FYI, LT1 (and likely ls1) fuel tanks will fit in your camaro but you have to make a minor mod to the filler neck. I think it needs to be shortened. Otherwise it's a direct fit.

However if you're worried about sloshing the last 5 miles of gas away from the pickup, then I dunno... sounds like fuel cell territory and not gas tank.
