7000 Rpm Lt1
honeslty I have posted about this and even attempted planning a comb that would rev to around 8500, but here is the big but the lt1 is not the engine to be doing this with. The idea of a stroker is a good idea you can still rev it pretty high(6800). Well if you want to rev that high well your better of dropin in a sbc1 for the following reasons
lt1-in my opinion are design for low end torque and hp
lt1- heads will not flow at all at those rpms
lt1- cost of doing this because every piece would have to be custom would be upward of 15,000 or more.
lt1-opti will break faster then you can shove a thumb up your *** at those engine speeds.
lt1- computer like said earlier only goes to 7000rpms
now if you have to have this you can get always carb your lt1 and get rid of your computer but once again I can guarntee you will never pull power that high in the rpm range.
I not saying its not possible but not even lt4 heads would work
now if you got pockets that are deep you can convert a set of sbc 23* heads to the lt1 get billet everything, run a soild roller, carb it , but you basicly just converteed your lt1 to a standard sbc so gjust start with a standard sbc and do crazy those can rev to out rages numbers if done proper. do some research engines like that are 90% plannin and 10% actual labor.

you've convinced me. Im better off going with an old school block. I have alot of experience with them and the market is wide open for those blocks. couple of questions:

that is not entirely true, there is a local with lt4 heads, ported by GTP and MTI, flow numbers were over 300. on the dyno his numbers were still climbing at 6800 when they had to stop the dyno, this is with a cc306 cam. so if yo find the right flowing heads it will work. the opti will not fall apart at 7 k either, it is better then the old sbc design. it was designed as a race type ignition. and it will not cost upwards or 15k for a motor that revs that high unless you want to pay for it. i could build one for well under 5 if i wanted to.
the t56 will bolt up to a sbc, but your gonna have problems with the top mount distributor up in the cowl. in a 4th gen your better off with a lt1, if it were a 3rd gen then go right ahead.
You could rev a 421 to 8000rpm if you wanted to, piston speed averages nowaday's has gone up a bit since a while back.
The fact of the matter is, any engine combo will rev to 7000, it won't exactly make a lot of power but it will rev to that.
If you want to do it "cheaply" to 7000rpm, make ****loads of power do the following.
Get a set of AFR 220 heads, have them ported, get a big solid roller cam, run a billet crank, titanium/billet rods, and forged pistons and be done with it.
Or you can be smart, since you aren't racing in any class restricting your mods obviously, go with forced induction. Have a stout short block, port the stock heads, run a conservative FI cam and supercharge it. Make 800rwhp with $10,000 instead of making 500rwhp with $20,000.

the distributor up on top is no problem at all. We've done one already with minor cutting under the dash. Didnt have to drop the engine of nothin major either. took about 30 minutes. distributor comes in and out like butter.
As for the optispark dist.
If you just look at that thing the wrong way, it falls apart.
I've only seen them fail about a million times.
T-56- yeah Im pretty sure it will bolt up.........but I think the flywheel is smaller on the LT1 so there lies a problem.

As for you coments on the heads 300 cfms is nice but I believe you need way more to accomplish anything above 7500rpms but maybe thats just my opinon. take a look at the advanted tech section if you want mucho power most have standard sbc heads convertered to fit the lt1 block. lt4 are nice but just dont cut it. look at lt1/lt4 na numbers compared to a sbc1. sbc1 dominate.

why do you never see a hardcore lt1 drag car, because most have switched over to the old sbc design.
