Is it just me or does 65 pounds not seem tight enough for the head bolts. I had to use a breaker bar and a lot of ooommpfh to get the stockers out whearas 65 pounds seems like cake.

You'd be surprised how tigh they will be.
I know its not the 100 ft # some old cars use, but its sufficient for the bolt size thats used.

getting them out you are breaking many many heat/cool cycles, some rust, the thread sealant etc. etc. You are not just breaking the original tourque. If you were to go and remove the bolts that you will tourque to 65# in a few years down the road you will need much more than 65# to break loose.

I checked both my Haynes manuals for my car and my Chevy 1/2 ton and 65# has been standard tourque for years.
