Exactly my point Buttercup. It has a lot to do with the application. I don't launch hard in the canyons, but I need the 'snap' to throttle steer. I've got an Eaton posi to so that makes it nice Drag Racing at the track with slicks is a different story. A 12 bolt would be a better choice.

Keep in mind, one of the fastest (relevant to the type of racing) Camaros I know of and seen is Carpenter's Camaro. He's running in the Unlimited Class at the open road competitions in Nevada. He's got a 10-bolt going over 212 MPH! Again it has to do with the launch and how hard you are on the components. You can see it hereat Open Road Racing

I wouldn't run anything less than 4.10's, unless you are making enough power that you'll run out of gear in the 1/4 mile with them. I shift at 6000 RPM, and my shift light comes on right as I go through the traps at the top of 4th. That's almost perfect gearing for drag racing.

There is 5 mph between 4.10's and 4.56's, when you add more power you gonna increase your traps correct? So when that extra 5 runs out your either gonna switch to 5th or switch gear ratios. Slow down with 3.73's or keep ya power with a 4.33 or 4.56.

How do you figure that? If you hit the rev limiter or go out of your power curve how are you going to go 5mph faster. Or, if you have to shift into 5th you are going to lose all your torque.
It depends on the particular engine, if its set up with enough cam and heads then fine, maybe 4.56s will help, but with a mostly stock engine 4.56s will be way too much.
If you look at the original posters signature you will see he has a mostly stock engine. Apples and oranges.

with a 2.3 60ft time 4.10's 12bolt, stock internals (not a valve cover off ever) car, at the strip i'm crossing the traps at 107mph still in 4th gear @ what rpm i'm not too sure since the tach and speedo still need recalibrated
i like them and after i did the rear swap, my 1st reaction (SOTP) was "damn i should've done gears 1st" so...IMO i like them alot but probably wouldnt do them in a 10bolt, heard too many horror stories
oh and on street tires i cut a personal best 60ft time of 2.02 slightly spinning but then i missed 3rd gear damnit
to me i found it easier to launch the 4.10's over the stock 3.42's IMO

I always found it easier to launch with 4.10's, on street tires or on something stickier. 3.42's either just spin, or spin and bog. With the 4.10's, you can let it bog on street tires, and its not goin to just sit there and chug, it will start going much quicker. I still would like 4.30's.
