First I'd like to say hello to everyone, my name is Jeremy and as of 11/28/03 I am the extremely proud owner of a 95 Z28! I absolutely LOVE this car

When in neutral the transmission seems to whine a little but it becomes less noticeable after I've been driving for awhile. Also when I'm accelerating and the motor is under about 2000 rpm it seems to whine. Is this normal for 6spd cars? Is my tranny on the way out?

 

it really shouldn't whine at all...the only thing that's known about our tranny is that the throwout bearing makes noise(rattling sound) when the clutch is in neutral.

 

How many miles on it? You could check your trans. fluid level and then change it if you want. That might help.

 

hey whats up?! congrats on the car!! they are awesome cars.... but they have their flaws!! one which you are experiencing right now!

ive owned 3 of these cars, each a 6spd. and EVERY single car had the same whine, rattling noise in the tranny! its probably the one thing i hate most about our cars! thats why i drive with the windows down and the radio up! so i dont realize all the little noises that are so common with these cars!

i wouldnt worry too much about it. if it makes you feel better just change out the fluids, and enjoy your ride.... with the windows down!

 

i got it after my spec clutch blew my bellhousing apart..

Its annoying... give it gas at 2000k rpms and it whines until hitting higher rpms..

I did the synchro kit, all bearings and races, new lt4 throw out bearing and most the noises are there...
Im just gonna buy a new tranny cuz im **** about those noises...

I valet cars so i know that most those noises arent in Fbodies... its there cuz something is warn.
