Unhappy What kind of damage am I looking at

This friday, my car was T-boned by this really bad driver. She ran a stop sign and ran right into my car. Here are two pictures and I am wondering what kind of damage am I looking at. Does it look totalled?

Also, I couldn't upload all of the pictures, so I will describe to other problems. The air box and intake has been pushed up so the hood does not close, there is this pastic piece in between the throttle body and intake that is cracked. and the wheel is busted.

Thanks everyone.

If you have any more questions, I might be able to answer them.

well just from the looks of it, lets see with suspension damage (can't tell from pic ) you need
1. door from junkyard about $300.00
2. bumper cover- used gm or after market 150.00
3.fender used or after market 75.00
4.lower rocker damager -humm thats a tuff one to decide from pic's. maybe replace or fix
5. your suspenion damage does not look good from the pics

Well to be honest it does not look good or does it hummm. They might total it. Which is not bad because you can buy it back super cheap and fix it or part it out. I am interested in your passenger side door panel.

I also see your in New Jersey. My friend does body work for a living. No craping he is one of the best body guys and painters I have seen. He has a full shop at his house and paints in a booth at his work. ( he can paint at his house but a spay booth is only 2miles away ) From the looks of it, it was not your fault, so worry about your insurance. If you would like to save some money when it comes time to fix it PM me. I'm sure he can work something out. If not c&d body shop in garfield is the best shop around.

Ya see, i really DONT want it totalled. This is my first car and I am only 17 and reparing this car in the past has created a very large debt that I am in with my parents (who are really retarted and would make me pay them back with the money I would get before I am allowed to by a new car) and this is my first car, and I think everyone knows that its always the hardest saying goodbye to your first.........

Oh and thanks, but I have it at a body shop right now and I know most of the people there and they are really good. But if it is totalled (god forbid) I will keep you in mind for the door panel.

Does anyone know what kind of frame we have on our cars? Is it a single peice? I know nothing about the frames on our cars, let alone frams in general. Any help would be most apreciated.

It doesn't look too bad actually, as long as the frame isn't damaged I think you'll be fine.. But it looks like there might be some frame damage around the front driver's side rear well, hard to tell in the pictures.. Also there is the chance of frame damage on the other side due to the force being transferred across the frame (this is what happened on my car). But if the frame isn't damaged, the costs would be minimal and you shouldn't be responsible for any of it since the accident wasn't your fault..

If you want a red driver's side door, let me know.. I have one in good condition off my totaled car (damage to front and rear but not on door at all), so drop me an e-mail if you're interested at flyerzfan1012@hotmail.com

Good luck and hopefully it won't be even close to totaled and you'll have it all fixed soon.

Well...

The F-body Frame can be pretty costly to fix. I see that your lower door frame is bent in. The base rails to your frame are 4 inches away from that zone. To have that straitend out..is extremely expensive. But that's the light part. THe biggest cost catcher of the F-body are the rear Pannels. It's one entire Piece that is welded to the frame of the car..It actually is part of the car and to have those panels adjusted range from 2000+ There's allot of cutting and welding involved. The lightest area of damage to fix is the front. I can't tell by your pics but it look like the front driverside frame might be bent. Frame damage is pretty serious if they can get the cars frame back into alignment correctly you'll forever have problems.

But looking at a few pictures it's hard to diagnoise the actuall damage.

What you should do is go to the Wreckage yard or where ever their holding your car and bring a mirror. Check the rear of the car and make sure the pannels aren't bent any. Take your mirror and trail underneath the car where your rear fender panel meets into your door and check for any bends or buckles. Follow it
under neath the car from the Front wheel to the rear wheel and re-check. Use a flashlight too. If you see any bends or buckling...You may not wat to have the car repaired. The insurance company probobbaly offered you a totaled value for the car where the repair amount of damage exceeds the cost of the car. Too me it looked like it could be fixed though but there's allot of unforseen damage upfron't. Your only 17 I'd take the Check from the insurance company and be on my way.

I had similar damage to my car when I hit a wall. My car's front left fender hit the wall, bounced off, then the rear quarter panel swung into the wall. (but my door was somehow untouched.) The front left wheel was bent, and the suspension tilted inwards like yours. I got a shop to repair just the suspension to get it running again, and worked with them to find a couple parts from a junkyard to save some money. It cost me a total of $1600 for parts+labor just to get it RUNNING perfectly (without bodywork). From what I remember, I needed a rim, spindle, rack and pinion steering unit, tie rods, and a couple other various parts. My frame was not damaged, which would've raised the cost dramatically. I found a stock rim and spindle from a junkyard for $200 (100+100) instead of about $1000 (700+300) from a dealer.

I eventually saved enough for the bodywork, which was $1900 to make it look like new. However, keep in mind that you'll need new parts, whereas my local shop just worked on the existing fender and quarter panel. My entire repair bill totaled $3500.

If I had to estimate your total repair, it would be $4000-4500 if you can find a few used parts, though it will vary depending on the frame and intake, etc. If the cost was estimated with dealer parts, the repair could easily exceed $5000. Here are some pics of my car after the first shop fixed the suspension and replaced the wheel, but before the bodywork.

How much do you guys think my car is worth?

It was fully loaded minus a Tape player, A4, and leather seats. It was in excellent condition, no dinks, dents or scratchs and the interior was perfect.

I have 4 basically brand new tires (3 with 13000 and 1 with 3000) 2 brand new wheels and I have what seems to be a rare interior (red striped).

It also has 95772 miles on it, mostly highway.

Blue book says something like 5500 but from what I remember when shopping for one, the blue book was about 2000 less than actual retail. I also have a Hooker Cat-back with a grand total of 56 miles on it, a K&N Filter and 8.5 MM spark plug wires.

The $5500 blue book value sounds about right. aftermarket parts don't usually add much to the value of your car, though it could be worth morth to the right buyer.
