6" rod, .030 overbore on stock LT1
6" rod, .030 overbore on stock LT1
anyone know what "ballpark" would the cubic inches would be on something like this? Crank will be stock stroke.
I am looking to build a nice budget fully forged bottom end, using a 6" forged I-beam connecting rod and have the walls bored .030 w/ forged SRP pistons, and an Eagle forged crank.
I will be looking at low compression, around 9:1 or so, and run 12-15 psi of intercooled boost.
would the eagle forged crank be overkill? cost-effective to go cast for the crank or no?
I'm hoping for 550rwhp give or take.
thanks for the help guys

For a blown application there's not much benefit. But if you were to go N/A with big heads and a solid lift cam where you'd be spinning to 8000, the longer rods would be of benefit due to less sideloads and friction on the cylinder walls.

You didn't ask me, but if you had I would say that it's not worth doing on it's own, but if you're rebuilding anyway, then you may as well go with the 6" rods.
