550 hp on 383

what does it take to make 550hp n/a at the wheels on a fully forged 383 built for nitrous? Can this be done with a streetable cam? What kind of heads?

If you mean 550rwhp without the nitrous, the short answer is "no". The longer answer is that it could be done with an exotic set of heads (an 18 degree or 15 degree head designed for a gen I SBC adapted to the gen II architecture). Very impractical (expensive) though. If you have to ask, it's probably something you don't want to do.

If you want nitrous, build a nice 400-450rwhp motor and spray it to your heart's content.

I think you can get 550rwhp from a 383 if you use the Dominion 32V heads and a "huge" cam to get enough air in and out of those heads. It is feasible I guess, but you need some serious cash.

et is a function of mainly traction and weight. look at pro stock cars. only 1300hp running 6s

just a different type of lifter. doesnt use the hydraulic mechanisms the hyd roller does.

solid rollers need to run pretty crazy springs, etc. pretty hard on a valvetrain. springs need to be replaced often, valves need adjustment every 6k miles or so, not too mention the parts cost significantly more than hyd roller.

then im going to stick with a hydraulic roller is the cc306 on a 114lsa streetable the car is my daily driver for now and i want the 114 because it is supposed to be better on nitrous and easier to pass emissions.

With a car set up right and great weather its entirley possible. We got guys breaking 11s on bolt on only cars. I saw an article ona 355 Z28 running 10s a couple years ago. Joe Overton runs a 9.86 n/a. Me personaly, LT1s love two things, nitrous and when they got a built bottom end they can make great blower cars just like any thing else.

I know it can be done bat can it be done n/a with a streetable setup if you use all top quality parts. And of course the rest of the car will be built im just talking about the engine

You will be hard pressed for a full weight car to run 11's flat with a N/A setup and hdy roller and worryign about a 114 ls.

Get more realistic and build a nice nitrous motor and use spray for those times. If you want a decent idle and emmisions, with a full weight car, the only way to go is nitrous/forced induction. Nitrous can be a pita having to fill bottles all the time, and keeping pressure up ect. But it works great. S/C kits are failry easy to install, but you really need a decent built engine to run with it. You can have near stock idle, and great emmisions, and have power when needed also.

For example, I built my friends (with his techincal guidance) 95 T/A to 583 RWHP and it passed strict IM240 dyno emmisions. This was with a near stock idle, and cold A/C, daily driven.. It trapped 129 in the 1/4 full weight car @ 3680 with driver. This was done with a 383 engine and an S-Trim/Aftercooler

Im going to build a motor for either nitrous or a supercharger(maybe twinturbo) but which would give the most power. Alot of boost or alot of spray.

It sounds like you are fantasizing, not actually planning a project. So it doesn't make sense to get too specific. I will offer a bit of advice though. Decide on a budget, then get the most power (and reliability) you can for your budget, don't set arbitrary hp goals.
