I've seen some dyno results a while back from this.
Not a good bang for buck on a stock motor.........
Get a nice cam kit for all it's worth.

How about this, does anybody know the effect of a larger TB on a modified engine, such as a heads/cam/LT engine?

Thumbs up

I have a 52mm tb with some other bolt ons. It improved throttle response, I was happy with it but I also have a cam I'm going to add now.

I'm not sure WTF all you people are talking about, a 52mm TB not making any difference on a stock motor???

In the big end, they feel like whole new cars!
You'll think you're doing 60 or so, look down and the speedometer is readin 90-95

A lot of people running 10's with the LT1 that I have heard of are still running the stock throttle body. It will flow well enough until you get into heads/cam, then I would upgrade, but on a stock motor, it is really a worthless mod.

Save your money for something else IMO...

You must have gotten one that was lacking the airfoil. I put one with an airfoil on mine and drove it... thought I was doing 60 and when I looked I was really doing 120....

Just get a stall or something. Don't waste your money on a TB because all it's gonna do is screw up the way your tranny shifts. (make the shifts softer )

Cool

My tb's have been on stock cars to 383's to 12 second beasts (Sideways_into_3rd). Noone has ever said they didn't notice an improvement. I've switched back and forth on my car several times (I'll usually sell one off it after i've run it awhile) and I do notice a difference. My car is far from stock though

Actually your MAP sensor monitors manifold vacuum and in an electronically shifted tranny such as the 4L60E, the manifold vacuum is in correlation the load on the engine so in this case the MAP sensor will determine when the transmission changes gears. By changing to a bigger TB, you are changing the manifold vacuum.

I know of at least one stock throttle body that has gone 10.2's (NA). Personally I have been 10.89 at 3300 lbs (NA).
