500RWHP is alot, as it's already been said. That's pretty much a low 11 second high 10 second car hooked up. All motor 500 RWHP couldn't be a daily driver, heck not even for me, and I consider myself borderline nuts. The easiest way which has already been mentioned also is nitrous. You could build a 400 RWHP engine, remain "streetable" and spray 150 shot on it. It would be sweet, but it's gonna be expensive too.

You gotta pay to play.

People do tend to throw around numbers! There's a thread in "Advanced Tech" started by a guy who is interested in a street car with 2,000hp! Not a put down, but how many people have any idea what you would need not just to make 2,000hp but what kind of a chassis, fuel system, transmission, etc. it would take to support it?

Anyway, 500rwhp NA isn't gonna happen very easily on a streetable LT1. The heads just aren't good enough, IMHO. A set of fully ported AFR 227's would probably do it. Along will all the supporting components you are talking about at least a $12,000 motor though. So, I think the power adder suggestion is the way to go if you MUST have 500rwhp. But I never understood aiming for a number anyway. The way to do it is to come up with a budget and then get the most you can for your $$$.
