500 rwhp can be done, but its gonna take probably a solid roller and a single plane intake conversion. Be ready to drop a lot of money on this set up.

You can get the hp numbers with that money, but you need to figure in a stronger rear, clutch, suspension, etc.

A LE3 Will get you the 425 rwhp or more you are looking for, although you need to have all the supporting mods as stated above.

Re: 500 HP Lt1

Add in an extra $1k in misc stuff along w/ the LE packages, for things such as:

rockers
injectors
pushrods
gaskets
lifters
misc broken gm parts and other things that should be replaced (ie, lifter spider)
tuning
etc etc

Then about $2500-3k for a basic forged bottom end, ala 355.

$18xx for an LE3 + ported intake fees + $150-200 for a set of 643 castings to port....

You're already at about $6k, and no supporting mods to go behind it.

This **** ain't cheap, a budget of $4-5k isn't realistic, and people need to understand that for this power level. This is also assuming you can do ALL the work yourself, except of course building the shortblock.

Re: 500 HP Lt1

What do you have done to the car already? Boltons, some boltons, I am asking because when you build a car you need to address all aspects of it. The suspension, trans, chasis, rear, brakes, etc. Build your car evenly, don't go too far in one place or you'll break the next weak link. Your 4-5k may not take you to 375-400rwhp if you don't have enough of the supporting mods. Building a stock car to 400rwhp car can cost 10-15k, depending who does the labor and if the car is stick or auto.

Does it really matter how you get 500 rwhp?

used everything

blower - $1500
injectors - $175
rr's - $150
small blower cam - $100
headers - $300
tune - $150
rearend - $1600

lca's - $75

new

elec wp - $200
