time for me to chime in.

Ford = gay!
How did this thread turn into a Chevy vs. Ford when it was the LT1 vs. the modern Hemi originally.

FWIW guys.... the stock Hemi heads flow about 268cfm. A Easy Stage one porting of them can get them to 300+cfm.

FWIW anyone who complains that it's not a Hemi is a moron... The quench pads in the chamber are the only thing that lets them make these motors work on todays engines and pass emissions regs. Plus it makes them a better performing cylinder head by far.

What effect do they have on emissions? I thought they were there simply to raise compression.

All the comments about Lightnings and Cobra R's had me returning to the first post to see what this thread was about...

FWIW an opposed valve layout in a two valve head has always been considered a "hemi".

Hence this is why this is called a Ford "Hemi" IHRA Pro Stock head

Once you convince big time guys like Kaase and Sonny that these are not "Hemi" heads i'll go along with it.

Well I was always told that a Hemi was a HEMI because of the Hemisphereical combustion chambers, hence the name "HEMI." The above head does not appear to have hemisphereical combustion chambers. Sure it may have the same valve layout and hell it may even work better than a "true" hemi head, but I dont think that that makes it a "real Hemi." (One with the correctly shaped combustion chambers.

Uh, I could be mistaken, but I believe that the head in the picture does have hemispherical combustion chambers. Can't you see the curved surface around the valve openings?

Yeah, having a block that only weighs 85 lbs and can handle 1500+ HP really sucks...

You respect the 5.4 but not the 4.6? You do realize the only difference is the deck height...

And I'm sure John Mihovetz really hates his 4.6 since you seem to think it is one of the worst designed engines. After all, who wants to make 1600+ horsepower from 281 cubic inches?

I like the 4v mod motor....I just hate mustangs
