5.7 hemi - 5.7 lt1 ?? why more horses on the hemi
Re: 5.7 hemi - 5.7 lt1 ?? why more horses on the hemi
Yes because the Cobra R doesnt look like a regular Mustang. A ZL1 has a different badge.... other than that you really wouldn't know it from any other Vette. Cobra R gets more attention because people like to hype it up..... there is no need for hype with a ZL1.
Re: 5.7 hemi - 5.7 lt1 ?? why more horses on the hemi
Hemi Rams are a snack...nothing else...and the chunk of the guys that have them think they have something fast...yeah, a good race for my wife's V6 Mustang. I spanked one last year and I beat he checked to see if pulled the e-brake when I pulled him. If you want to beat SRT-10's, should have bought a Lightning and started with a solid, proven setup.
About Ford's being pos and fixing a weak motor with a blower...heh, at least they are doing something and unless you have been hiding or just plain ignoring the potential of the Cobra's with basic upgrades...your nuts if you believe the motors are junk.
Put a KB on a Cobra and basic mods...easy 650 RWHP...that easy...on 93 octane pump gas...with no problems because the motor was made to easily handle that.
I also guess the pos motor in my Lightning does ok being my truck has a race weight of 4700 lbs...runs on 93 octance...uses a power robbing transmission, a Dana 60, a 4.5 driveshaft...tires and rims that weigh almost 65 lbs (each)...then let's completely forget the aerodynamics of the thing. Yet, it would spank a large percentage of the cars floating around here...bad....pos eh?
I am a Chevy guy at heart...but I would not let that make me delusional.

You know my Lightning made 362/430 SAE @ the wheels stock. It also ran 13.9@102.5 stock weighing around 4850 lbs race weight before I even even knew how to launch.
Cobra's make up in the 360-370/360-370 SAE @ the wheels stock also.

Hey It kinda hurts to see you bash on the HEMI Rams. I am not dillusional I know they are slow stock. But to whoever said to buy a lightning and start with a proven combo is crazy. If everyone always started with a proven combo and modded that, we would probably all still be running ford flatheads. Trying something new can lead to great things.
I also did not buy my truck my father gave it to me after my truck's transmission **** on me numerous times. I love this truck and I actually almost bought a Lightning right before I got the Ram but now after doing my research and finding out the potential of the Hemi, I cant wait to see the look on an Unsuspecting lightning driver's face when my heavy *** quad cab walks all over him, and he hears that oh so familiar sound of a supercharger whining as I pass him.

My 97 has been serving up some late model A.S.S over the last few days so even for dated tech they are performing as good as most current sports cars.

Im a Bonified chevy guy for the most part but lets give credit where its due.
Ford could have upped their cubes and got a competitive amount of power with their current platforms but they chose to go the SC route for lots of reasons but I assure you if they want NA power they could have got it. The mach1 is a decent example of a Ford engine that flows pretty damn good. It was a factor of production costs and the way to bring it to the consumer affordablely was in a Supercharged package making PLENTY of power. Not to mention you can throw on a few bolt ons and run low 11's and put down some insane power numbers. For the price of the car it was completely unbeatable. Now look at the current engine on the 05. The 4.6 makes 300+HP and can make 500+ HP with nothing more then a supercharger and do it without blowing up. I cant think of another V8 capable of handling the amount of boost and power from the factory without blowing up.
The truth is ford makes a high quality engine. Hope the truth dont hurt.
