Question is it a 5/16 pushrod??

wanted to replace my lifters and thought that it would be a good idea to change out the pushrods at the same time. can anyone tell me what the pushrod length is or what size to look for if i was looking to replace the stock ones with some hardened ones out of a summit catalog, the book has all these diffrent lengths and 5/16 and 3/8 which ones??

I think stock (97 LT1) are 7.2 inches. If you run a larger cam, check the tappet pattern (should run @ mid point on valve) for measurement of larger pushrods. I run .558" lift and went with a 7.3"

Yes, the stock length is 7.2 inches. The hardened stock replacements should run around 30 bucks.

There is no substitute for one of these if you are working on engines.

Just don't use the tape measure when checking bearing clearances. Found out the hard way.
