a stock rebuild will cost you anywhere from 600-1100, i perfomance rebuild will cost anywhere from 1300-2400, plus converter cost (up to 700). my stock a4 worked fine until i added cam/heads. it blew after 2 wot blasts. im waiting on my performance tranny from combination motorsports right now, i might make it to the track this year. my car has been on jacks for most of the year doing mods

i just had my tranny rebuilt from LT1DAVE and i know i'm gonna love it. excelent guy!!!!!!!

i have #25 4l60e's using the new pressure shift module.

it remove the ecm's control of the line pressure and makes it work off vaccum. the faster you spin these tranny's the harder it is to compensate for pressure.

anyways... rebuild was 850, then i got the pressure mod, and then i bought a 3000 stall .... total was 1400.00 and worth every penny.

this tranny is gonna last and its a great deal. anyone that spends of 1500 on a rebuild got ripped off!!!!!!

I too have a combination motorsports tranny, Level 2. I looked around for a while before I decided on one (even though they built my engine, I wanted to shop around on the tranny). Then I saw the video of their 900 or so horsepower Impala and thought to myself, "Self, why not check out their transmissions?" LOL I've got about 18,000 on my Level 2, and probably...ummmm, I hope they don't read this 200 quarter mile passes, plus a street 1/4 mile run every time I pull up to a light next to a Vette.

The thing that really sealed it for me was their warranty and their amazing customer service when I ordered my engine.

You have to talk to them to know what I mean, but they really are a good bunch of people.

p.s. Just so I don't feel like a walking CMotorsports ad, I also looked at the FLP and netgearhead.com transmissions.

REALLY knows what he's doing and i trust him... he comes on here... thats how i found him... if you want, i can give you his e-mail

i'll tell ya after i have time to abuse the f*ck out of it =]

its a B&M torqmaster 2400 stall

the guy i bought the tranny from said it was junk, but that guy is so fricken high end in his parts/work... anything shy of a vigilante to that guy was probably junk

i haven't heard anything bad about em sides that...

and for 250 bucks.... i'll take my chances... they have a 1 year warranty... which doesn't cover "misuse, abuse" how they can tell the difference between a defective failure and misuse/abuse, is lost on me.... i think they may make the decision for themselves what THEY think caused the problem... which sounds shady... but i have no reason to talk down about it, yet..

I had mine performance built by a local guy. 750 for the rebuild and then I bought a TCI breakaway TC for it, 1200 for everything.
I am installing it in the next couple days so I will let you know how it goes.
I know people in my local club who have his 700R4s behind big blocks so I am sure his trannies last.

revtime thats a great deal on a performance rebuild. AAMCO quoted me $1128 for a stock rebuild with 2000 stall (some weird brand) but it came with a 12month/12,000mile warranty.

Where are you located? I get $1000 for a racing rebuild. Capable of working AND LASTING. This includes all the performance upgrades to make it handle deep 10's. Do a search for Dirk (RACINLT1). I built his transmission over 2 1/2 years ago for his nitroused 11.2 second '97 'Bird. Still going strong and working great...BTW, he goes 11.2 IN DRIVE!
I'd advise against the vacuum modulator conversion. The equivilant of taking your LT1 out and installing a 305 out of an '88 IROC. The EPC solenoid regulates pressure just fine for whatever you want it to do.

Wrong. When you start making BIG horsepower, vacuum modulation is the only way to go. There is something in the PCM that freaks out when you make a ton of power and it can spike line pressure through the roof.

i had mine rebuild locally (baltimore) from Chesapeake Transmissions

$1200 for a full rebuiild with shift kit, kevlar bands, etc, etc, 2800 stall. 12 month warranty

Told me if I break it to bring it in and he'll fix it.

Totalled the car before I get 6 months out of it, but it shifted awesome, and I know it wouldn't have broken.
