Well def going to ask a ? that i may get heat for... but i recently bought a lt1 out of a caprice and pulled pan and the 3 center caps were 4bolt and the outer thrust was 2bolt as well as the other end cap... this is considered 4bolt main block right? just confused cuz i thought 4bolts only came in vettes.. thanks guys.. and i did search just couldnt find ne pics.. thanks

 

You are correct. Its most likely a replacement LT1 block. All the replacement blocks were 4 bolt mains.

Is it possible then that they made the 97 lt1 block in a 4 bolt? When I did the rebuild on my block i thought i recalled that the front and back caps were 4 bolt.

 

If was a 4-bolt from GM, I believe only the three center caps were 4 bolts.

 

I take that back, its a 2 bolt. mis-read the intial post.

 

This block has steel billet caps but still demonstrates what we're talking about.

It's possible that 4-bolt main blocks were used in 97 F-Bodys. If they had any left over from the Corvette, which discontinued the LT1 in 1997, I'm sure they put them in whatever came down the production line.
