450RWHP LT1... How much?

What modifications would it take to give an LT1 Camaro 450hp at the wheels? (no forced induction) How much would those chosen modifications cost?

I'm debating on whether to get an LS1 or LT1 Camaro and am trying to figure out which would be a better choice for me. I personally like the front of the LS1 Camaros much more than the LT1s... but I believe you can simply change the front ends correct?

Gee dude. Raplacing the fronts?? errr the Hood will prob had to be replaced cause the older one doenst have the same shape... I am looking at pics right now. Sounds like headache but if you have the time I am sure it can be done. I dont think GM had to totally re-ingeneered the front just to change the nose.

On the other hand I have been thinkin of 450rwhp normally aspirated for mine too... Check with Injuneers web page.. I cant quiet remember his web address but someone here will tell you.

For the looks of his car I am sure he is putting out some serious power and its normally aspirated (I recall) Also he is very good at it (no mambo jambo) He uses the cientific approach....

Ask other board members for his web page. you wont be disapointed...

You can change front ends with relative ease...many have.

I made the HP in my sig with a 383 with ported LT4 heads and a medium size hydraulic roller. A solid will be going in and 450 wont be a problem.

im guessing alot of money. the reson i say this is because when people make a goal of 450 hp they usually end up paying someone. you could prob do it cheap or expensive depends on what you want to spend.

to change the front end out youll need : front nose, fenders and hood from a ls1 car. Proly gonna run about a grand or more for all that unless you find some good deals.

You would probably be better off getting an LS1 budgetwise. But either way, it is going to cost you a lot of money to get those kind of numbers. Getting the numbers is one thing, getting the car with that kind of numbers to run properly and reliably is another.

I saw an article in GM High Tech Performance a couple of months ago and they did a LT1 383 vs a LS1 381 build up. The LT1 made 20 more hp than the LS1 and was a couple of thousand dollars less to build. They can make great hp out of the LS1 but it cost alot more cash to do so. Good luck

Please explain to me why you would need any of this stuff if you have a 6spd. What do any of these things have to do with making 450rwhp?

Well, I guess you could have an engine that puts out 450hp relatively cheap, but why bother if you don't do the extra mods. You would probably want slicks so you could hook, then a built rear end so the car could handle the traction without the rearend blowing out, and a slightly better suspension never hurts. It would be a waste not to do a lot of the other things.

Which issue was that? I don't remember seeing that and have all the back issues for the past 5 years.
