help me choose SA vs Non SA rockers
help me choose SA vs Non SA rockers
going to do heads/cam/LT's this winter for my project upgrade on a 94 LT-1
I can get a set of nice comp pro's 1.6 rr that are non SA off a forum member. Lloyd Elliot will be porting my heads and upping valve sizes.
Should I go for the very slightly used Comp RR that are Non SA vs getting new rockers that are SA but higher $$$$.
and if I get the Non SA should I send the guideplates and studs with my heads so Lloyd can just install those when he reassembles my heads?
Is there anything else special I would need to know about setting up the Non SA rockers vs SA
thanks

I did non self-aligning on my head/cam/headers/etc./etc. swap. Comp Pro Magnums. Keep one very valuable lesson in mind, though...COMP doesn't make guide plates for LT1's! I had a set and they don't line the rockers up on the valves. LT1's have wider valve spacing than the typical SBC. GMPP makes a set that DO fit correctly. The spacing between the slots is .050" wider.

To be honest, I did it so the valvetrain would be more universal. It's easier to find non self-aligning rockers. If I'm ever at an event (away from home), and I need a 1.6 rocker, it'll be easier to find one.
