450lb transmission jack ok for M6 removal?

Subject pretty much says it all.

I have a friend with a 450lb transmission jack. I am just checking to make sure it is enough for removal of the M6.

yeah that will do fine. I always put mine back in by hand. Just prop it up on my chest, and press it up into place. It's not that heavy.

Hehe... I'd snap like a twig.

Do you think a normal jack would work well enough?

My worry there would be finding the balance point so it doesn't come crashing down.

The first time I did it, I couldn't get it to balance on a regular car jack. After an hour of that, I just pushed the jack out of the way, dragged the tail of the tranny up over my chest, and pushed it up into place. By the way, I'm 6'0" and 160lbs, so I'm not that big either. You'd be surprised how easy it really is.

DO NOT use a regular floor jack! After I tried to balance the damn thing on the head of the jack it finally slipped off and my hand got caught under it and the ground in a funny way ripping my thumb back and almost breaking it.

It was not fun and it was a learning lesson. I now get a second hand on tranny drops.

If you're asking if that will be sufficient to hold the weight of the transmission, yes it will. The transmission weighs in the 110lb ballpark.
