431rwhp/386rwtq - TEA LT1 heads/custom cam

We just finished my girlfriend's car last week and were very pleased with the numbers it put out.

The plan was to do the heads/cam over the course of a weekend, but once the stock cam was removed, the front cam bearing showed a ton of wear. We pulled the motor and found nearly all the bearings in the motor were showing copper. I was pretty surprised given the relatively low miles (66k).

Anyways, here is the mod list:

Rebuilt LT1
- Stock pistons, rods, cranks
- Total Seal rings
- Clevite main bearings, King rod bearings, coated Durabond cam bearings
- ARP rod bolts
- Melling HV pump
- Canton pan

-Total Engine Airflow (TEA) ported stage 2 LT1 castings (2.00/1.56 Manley valves) ~ 11.0:1 CR; heads flowed ~ 265/200 at peak on Thunder's bench
- Thunder Racing 234/248 .608/.576 110lsa (110ICL) hydraulic roller
- Crane 99893 valvesprings w/ Ti. retainers
- Comp 1.6 rockers (7/16" studs)
- GM guideplates
- FMS 7.350" pushrods
- Morel lifters
- FMS ported LT1 intake manifold

The car is a '95 Z28 6-speeed with Hooker longtubes w/ no cats, Hooker catback, CSI elec. water pump, AS&M 58mm TB, MSD 6A and coil, Dynapark opti, SVO 30lb inj, Racetronix fuel pump, LS1 alum. driveshaft, stock rear w/ 4:10s.

Final #s were: 431rwhp/386rwtq through full exhaust!

I don't have the graph scanned, but I will get to that this week. The #s are SAE corrected and the car pulls to 7k easily.

Needless to say, it is a night and day difference from her bolt-on setup! Huge thanks to everyone involved in getting Nat's car back up and running and Brian @ TEA for a killer set of heads!

Jason

Great numbers! I cant wait to get my TEA ported TFS head motor running. Brian does great work and builds a killer set of heads.

I got a set of fully CNC TFS heads from him. 220cc heads, they flowed 317cfm @ .700. With my SR 355 I hope to put down over 450 thru my auto.

Are those cam specs correct or is that a typo, a 14 degree split on intake/exhaust is pretty big.

Awesome #s!!! You guys do good work.

Also, I can't wait to see if all the AI & LE bandwagon camp nutthuggers decide to give you props or mount the usual H&C attack replies

I was thinking the same thing. Also, I never knew TR made cams for the LT1. Custom?

Anyone that "builds" custom cams usually just figures out the specs and then gets them ground somewhere else. I can't remember who Thunder uses, but they understand what it takes to make power in any SBC or BBC.
