425hp !!

The GM LT4 converision lists horsepower increase to 425. Is this true? Has a magazine or website ever tested this? How could they claim this if it isnt true?

Re: 425hp !!

It may be on the optimistic side, but it isn't RWHP they are claiming - it is flywheel horsepower. It is generally considered to be overpriced compared to vendors like Lloyd Elliot and the like. If you look around, you can find much cheaper kits that produce more power.

Re: 425hp !!

What everyone has said sofar is correct but I think I can help put it in better perspecive. If your stock motor was tested under those same conditions it would be over 350hp. Does that make the point clearly enough?

Re: 425hp !!

That kit is way over priced, there are much better choices. I am including an LT4 shortblock in my build and it will still come out cheaper than the kit.

Re: 425hp !!

The HP numbers used in advertising are based on an engine dyno (no accesories, no other losses) done by MORE Performance in the late 1990's. The magazine article has been reprinted a couple times since then. They used LT headers, larger TB, larger injectors, and the thing they fail to mention... the engine was tuned with a $3,000 aftermarket ECU. They got 429 flywheel HP. In effect - SAE "gross".

Re: 425hp !!

it's another one of those "power packages" like edeldrock sells.it is really just designed for the person that knows very little about performance upgrades it is foul proof and motor safe, however if you read others posts to see what parts work best with others you will find a better set up between $$$$ and the power the combo will generate for you,my best suggestion is to contact Mr.Elliot @E-PORTWORKS this man is a wizzard and can set you up with a nice combo, remember this, the biggest bang for the buck is goood head
