40K mile/piston problems

Hello all. I had my 95 Z at my mechanic and the noise which I thought would be a exhaust leak turns out to be either a loose piston or bent pushrod pending a further look.

This engine is a remanufactored one bought from Advanced Auto. My question is could this engine problem be fro poor break in procedure? or did I get a POS engine from them? Thanks for reading

Either one of those options that ends up being the cause is directly due to getting a cheap mass production motor - shops like mine aim to far surpass the factory tolerances and precision...production engine rebuilders don't even meet the manufactures standards.
