400 lt1 conversion
ok, got a bit of a project that i need help with. i have a junk lt1 (cracked block) with good wiring harness, fuel injectors, sensors, etc. i also have a freshly rebuilt pontiac 400. runs like a champ but i want to convert it to fuel injection using the lt1 set-up. i can do all the fabricating to make it work mechanically, i'm just wondering what sensors and electrical connections are needed and what can be eliminated from the harness.
any help is greatly appreciated

Re: 400 lt1 conversion
Easiest thing to do is get a factory wiring diagram for the year of the PCM you are going to use. What year is your LT1? If it's a 94-97, are you intending to use the mass air flow sensor, or convert it to speed-density (no MAF)?
If you can tell us the year, we can tell you what you do and don't need. The big issue will be replicating the cam position info from the Optispark distributor.

Re: 400 lt1 conversion
Engine is out of a 94 trans am. Car ran beautifully but previous owner had water in the cooling system when he parked it for the winter. So I'll probably use the MAF since i have it and it's good.

The system won't run without the cam position signals from the optical module in the Opti. How do you plan to supply that signal? You would have to incorporate the module and shutter wheel in the distributor.

Re: 400 lt1 conversion
Don't think i can use the distributor because it spins opposite of a Chevy. I'm probably going have run it off the cam sprocket. Since I'm ditching the mechanical fuel pump, i should have adequate space where the pump cam would be
