Personally, I loved my car with 4.10 gears. I was trapping at about 5800 rpm on 26x11.5 ET Streets with my mods listed below. I dont do much highway driving though. I have considered putting in some 3.73 and using drag radials since they are a little easier on the rear, but if I get a 9" like I plan on doing, it will be stuffed with 4.11 gears, and I'll be bolting on ET Streets again.

But that's just me and my car. No two combos are the same.

What rpm are you trapping at with the 4.10s?
I loved the 4.10's behind the stock motor. I tached around 2300/60 MPH/in 4th gear/with 26" tall tires.
I think having to use 4th gear in a quarter mile run is slowing the car down.

So, you've had 4.10's and didn't like them? I can tell you this much...For a stock motored car, they'll run circles around a 3.73 equipped car. I went 12.82 @ 106 MPH with a completely stock 93,000 mile LT1 with exhaust manifolds. The only mods the car had were 4.10's, ET Streets, 3200 stall, Hypertech chip, Flowmaster exhaust, Moroso CAI, MSD ignition and coil, Splitfire plugs, taylor 8 MM wires, and a throttle body airfoil..Never had a valvecover off it.
The only reason I'm putting 3.73's in it now is because I'm turning too many RPM at 112 MPH.

Frank
No I have never had 4:10 in my car but my buddy has 3.73 in his auto and most people that I know do not like turning that much rpm while street driving. Since your car is a 93 then you have a 700R4. How does the gearing differ from a 4L60E and a 700R4?

Gearing is the same between the 2.

Each combo is different. I want 4.10s in my set up and that is with the TH350 and I wanted 4.10s when i had the A4. I wanted the grunt off the line and the extra RPM up top. I listened to everyone and stayed with 3.73s. Who knows if I would gain anything from switching...some one want to let me use a 4.10 rear end and see?

I have a 12 bolt with 3.73's in my 95Z and a set of 4.11's in my basement. Everyone is telling me not to do the 4.11's w/ my A4.
So far I have listened.

A lot of people told me the CC306 was too much for my car. I didn't listen. And I love that cam!!!!!!!!!

I can't decide about the gears. I would like to ride in one first.

The ideal way to determine the gearing is to look at the peak HP reading, what RPM does that happen at? That is the RPM in which you want to cross the stripe, either 1/8th or 1/4 depending on where you race. That is how you determine the gearing, or that is how I would.

Point being, I can hold 2nd in my TH350/3.73 in the 1/8th, the 6200 shift lite is on but I can hold it. In the 1/4 though, i need that extra 300RPMs to match the cam and my combo but I have not made that change, yet.....

If your car makes power to 6000 and past a set of 4.10s would be nice in a 1/4 mile car. The 2nd gear in a 4L60 is so wide that the 4.10 would wake up second as well.
I have had 3.73s in both of my cars on LT1s and it absolutely rocks. I could use a few more hundred rpms at the track though on the top end.

My friend put 4.10s in an A4 SS (96 I think), and did not see any improvement in the 1/8th mile. He eventually replaced them with 3.73s.

And did he pick up or stay the same? Missing some info...
