I put in a CC305 cam with Crane OE style Hyd Roller lifters, and they have been failing out on me (pumping up and bending my pushrods, messing up my rockers) The first two times it was the exhaust lifter for cylinder number 2. I called Summit and ordered a replacement, which was free since it was a manufactor defect. NOW, a lifter has gone out again! Are these Crane lifters know to frequently fail/pump up? I am about ready to switch over to Comp lifters, are these better than the Cranes? I would think so because it is like 100 dollars more, but I dont want to remove my intake manifold every 2 weeks to replace a friggin lifter.

Did you adjust the valve preload too tight?

I have run the cc 306 for 2 years but with the cc R lifters with no problems. With the hy. lifters you have to be very carefull with the spring pressure. I ran about 110 on the seat and was able to turn the motor 7000 with no problem.

A second vote for the Comp "R" lifters. Haven't heard a bad thing about them, that's why there's in my car!

More times than not, a reoccuring problem is the result of another less visible problem.

You either have a binding problem or the retainer is contacting the rocker. I seriously doubt the lifter is the cause of the problem
