396 Stroker

Hey everybody, new to the site. Thought i'd tell ya about my 396 stroker i'm in the process of building. I have a race prepared 96 Vette block i bought already machined. Its bored .45 over which cubic inches are 398 now. Bottom end will consist of: Callies Dragonslayer stroker crankshaft, Forged H-Eagle 6" rods, JE .45 over racing pistons, Oliver Billet 4 Bolt main caps with ARP studs and bolts. Canton Oil pan. I sent Bare Trick Flow castings to Loyd Elliott which he worked, Valve sizes are 2.08, 1.625 valves, LT4 intake port matched to the heads, with a Custom cam by Loyd Elliott. 36 to 38lb injectors. All this goin the a 4L60E if it holds up. Anybody else running a 396?

Re: 396 Stroker

Welcome to the board.

I don't have a 396, but that build sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun!

Is that A4 still stock?

Re: 396 Stroker

I had it rebuilt about 2 years ago, some racing parts in the bands and such, with a Trans Go shift kit. But from what i hear they dont hold up under pressure.

Well, hopefully it holds... I'm going to have mine rebuilt before slapping the new 355 LE2 combo on it. The trans is completely stock with 120k miles on it.

I'll have some numbers. I hope to have it done by the spring. I think it will put down a real nice number.
