396 cam choice...cc306? GM847?

Hey guys, I need your help....I know that this question has probably been asked 800 times, but I am about to get into doing a 396 LT1 and I need help with choosing the cam. Unfortunatly I still need to pass emissions, but I found a guy who is going to dyno tune the car for me and says that he is confident that he can make a pretty nasty cam pass emissions. My question is will the cc306 or the GM847 pass emissions with a good dyno tune? I figured if anybody would know it would be someone on this forum. Also I'm using AFR 190 heads from TPIS, they port them further to achieve great flow rates....at least thats what they told me.....lol. If the cc306 or the GM847 cannot be made emissions legal can any of you guys recommend any other cam that will make good power with the AFR heads and also has a pretty nasty lope? I'm looking for around 480rwhp maybe more if I can squeeze it out. Any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated, this will be my first time doing anything like this and I just want to make the most power I can....OH! by the way I'm planning on spraying this motor also, maybe a 125 or a 150 shot of nitrous....what do you guys think? Talk to you later.

480rwhp doesn't just happen, you need some awesome heads and a well planed out motor and probably a more optimized cam than a 306 or 847.

The AFR 190's would have to flow like gangbusters to make 480rwhp with a HR cam.

The cam should be the last thing you choose after you get the rest of the engine and car specs down, tranny, stall/launch, gears, weight, heads, compression etc... all have a lot more to do with the cam choice than if you should go with a 306 or a 847. My guess is that a custom cam will fit the bill a little better than a off the shelf one and cost similar, the additional money for a custom cam is probably some of the cheapest $ per HP you can do.

Trust me , unless you already have the 190 AFRs, buy the 210s. You'll reach your goal much easier.

I like the GM 847 cam, but I think in the stroker motors it need less ICL, the cam would be killer for a stroker if the timing was shifted like that.

That might be one fo the thigns you need, but it depends on the car and where it needs to make power. a A4 with a 2500 stall is different from a M6 that drops the clutch at 6K.
