396 cam and afr heads

i going to be buying a 396 this week. just wanted to get sum input on what you guys think about what we have *** up with.
callies crank lunati pro mod rods gm hd timing chain cam is 242in 248 ex .576in .597ex on a 110 lobseparp bolts and studs.comp r lifters. afr heads 220cc 100% cnc heads with 2.8 1.6 56ccwith lt4 intake flat top pistons. 13to1 comp ratio

Sounds like a nice set up but the compression is pretty high.
You will definitely need to be running racing gas all the time.

I'm running 12:1 compression on my 396 and for me to run pump gas I had to really tune on it and also retard my timing a little so there is no detonation while running pump gas.

It should do alright and be plenty driveable, but I'd recommend lowering that static compression ratio quite a bit. With a relatively mild HR setup, I honestly don't see it being worth the hassle

i am think about going to 60cc heads now. i talk to mike at more perf and he said i should go with them i will be running 94 oct gas only good thing about living in n.y.and mixing 100oct gas withit their is a gas sation about 10 miles for my house that sells it for the local dirt track races. the heads should give me 12.5 to 1
